Can I terminate a sound in the half?

I found when I play a sound, I have to play it from the start to the end, or
I can configure the length of the sound in the code. But can I just terminate a sound when palying? For example, tape ENTER key to stop the sound?

sound site:www.alice.org

You should find several postings there that deal with the need to stop a sound once it is playing.
