Students often click on the ground by accident and either move the ground the wrong way, or shift something else by accident.

Is there a way to lock the position of an object on the screen so you don't accidently click and move it when editing a scene?

This can be done in Adobe Photoshop and other programs.

I don't think there is, but you can use the Undo button at the top of the screen.

This may be more awkward than you want, but if you

select the ground
click on the "properties" tab
expand the heading "seldom used properties"
change "is first class" to FALSE

then the ground can no longer be click-and-dragged.

:p This works perfect, and is not too awkward. Would there be any side effects of setting FIRST CLASS to false?

No major side effects, obviously, other than that you can't move the object or select it.
