When I view this message title in the listing for The Lounge, this title shows a padlock. I don't recall ever having seen that before. Does anyone know what it means?

The padlock is still showing on my machine and the topic doesn't seem to be locked. Presumably if it was locked, I wouldn't be allowed to post this message.

i don't see any padlock either....

anyways, as for Keilala's question, you have to search on the internet and download the sounds(like MP3), then you import them into the world by going to properties/ +sounds /- [import sounds]...

just put in Free sound effects _________(your sound you want) on google.

the recordist site is good for crashes and machine sounds

just search on google

If you also constrain your search for sounds to either this forum and/or the Scratch forum, you will find a fairly extensive list of sites for both sounds and sound generators.

Another good way to limit the search (there are really many, many sound files on the web) is to limit it to a specific game you like if you want to duplicate those sounds.

One site you might want to check out is SoundSnap.com (http://www.soundsnap.com/). We used it extensively for the instructor's solutions for the Alice programming projects in our book (Programming with Alice and Java (http://www.pearsonhighered.com/academic/product/0,3110,032151209X,00.html)). Every time I went back to fetch more sounds, the site had added a large number of additional sounds. All are cost-free, royalty-free, etc. and just perfect for use in Alice worlds!

Occasionally, I would slightly edit a sound to crop it, etc. If you have not used it, Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) is a great sound editing program (also free!)

I search on Youtube, I find a video with a sound that I like, than I record it on Alice.

Just browse the web for some sounds and record them.
