We have Alice on 21 computers in a classroom and Alice will not work. When you click Alice.exe, it comes up with splash screen and then disappears. In task manager I see Alice.exe for a second then it disappears. Thanks for any help provided.

Thanks,

Ross

Do you have Alice installed on the Server?
If Alice is being run from the server, it will automatically close down at run time because the Students computers wont have access to it, The best thing to do would be to Install Alice into its own folder on the desktop as opposed to the Servers Drive.

If you do this and it does not work tell me what problems you are having still and i will be more than happy to assist you.

Alice is loaded on each machine does the same on each machine. Is there a possibility of a conflict with another program.

Thanks,

Ross

There is a known conflict between Alice 2.0 and software that supports the old Iomega zip drives. I'm not certain, but I believe that the offending process is named ImgIcon or something like that. The symptoms of that conflict are very similar to those that you described.

We are not running anything with that process or dealing with Iomega.

I had this same problem on my HP tc4400 tablet. By chance I tried turning off Advanced Text Services and everything was fine.

So, you might try this.
-Right click on the icon for Alice.
- click on Compatiblity tab
- under Input Settings
- check box: Turn Off Advanced text services for this program.

Hope this works.

Thanks for the input, but that didn't seem to fix the problem either.

Thanks,
