Is there a way to merge objects in Alice to form a single class that can be exported?

I want to use this RPG that I've made in future creations.

Within Alice - No. :(

You can import .ase tubes (I've posted them elsewhere) as textures, however, and create an object hierachy. That object can then be edited and saved.

You could also create an object like you show fairly easy in anim8or. Each different texture will eventually import (see the share objects section of the forum) as a separate sub-object into Alice.

Oops - Sorry Dawg. :o

I had remembered that a tube was a standard object in anim8or - but it isn't, nor could I find one as a standard in any of the other modeling programs I normally use. What you have to do is build up from a torus (which in anim8or requires a script from their home page) or alternately do a Boolean combination of two cylinders. While not particularly difficult, either approach does require some familiarity with the tool and isn't just a one or two mouse click effort.

I'll try to set up one in .ase format, but my schedule for the next couple of weeks is pretty full so I can't commit to a time. Meanwhile, you might find this thread interesting: http://www.alice.org/community/showthread.php?t=382&highlight=tube

A poor  tube was actually easier than I thought - see attached.

What you do is basically start with the torus, stretch it vertically and then flatten the sides (and the ends, if you want). Hopefully this will give you a start - I'll try to do a better one when I have a bit more time.

Also, if you want to vary the thickness of the tube wall, you might be better off starting with two tubes or cylinders and using Boolean options.

Note: I probably should have mentioned that the attached "tube" model gives quite a large object. If you actually want to use it, you probably need to scale it down in size by a factor of 10 or more.

Alright, thanks for the tips.:D I'll see how the Boolean method works.
