I don't know of any, personally. Try searching on google to see if anyone has something free that's compatible with alice. If not, you could always try modifying the ranger model to look more like halo, or try making your own with simple shapes (using Alice) or with a 3d renderer (there are a few free online, but I don't know if they're compatible with Alice or not)

I actually found a few online, for free, but they are in a format that Alice doesn't accept. I'm trying to learn how to convert them now.

Hey, I think that I have a gun saved on my laptop that is already in an alice world. It isnt a Halo assault rifle, but it is a really well made rifle. Ill look for it and reply with an edit.
Yep I found I found it. The rifle has a strange axis I think, so you have to use that cone to orient it. Instead of vehicle the gun to you, vehicle the cone to you and the gun will follow.

I did a quick search but came up with way too much data to sort through when I really don't know much about HALO. I do know it's the basis for the Red vs. Blue videos - some of the best machinima around.
If you have a specific model, I'd be glad to give it a try. Some of the ones I found were in .3ds format with textures - fairly straightforward to convert - but others were in formats that would probably require Milk Shape (or Blender?) to convert.

One of the many hazzards of making your own models. Make very sure you have the objec's center and orientation where you want them before you export it from the modeling program - something I way too often forget. :o
It also helps to get the scale correct for Alice before exporting, although this is much easier to fix in Alice.

here's the one I found. I have to put it on wikisend since Alice won't upload that stuff.

Here it is with conversions (for strange formats, you have to put the model in a zipped file to upload to Alice). The conversion was very straightforward using Biturn - the only real issue was that the "forward" direction actually has the character facing backwards.
The real problem is that only the mesh converted and this was apparently a boned model - so the movements you are going to be able to do using Alice are very limited. This is a pretty common problem with stuff from the web. You can "cut it apart" in Anim8or or another program - but this gets fairly tedious by the time you work through getting all the joints correct - I'd plan your animation before starting and just make the minimum number of separations. Also, I couldn't find a texture associated with the model so just colored the various parts in Alice.

You did very well, thank you so much for your help.
So are there any online tutorials for these various programs you've mentioned: Anim8or, Milkshape, Blender and Bitrun?

right now, im trying to put together about 100 different models from halo, from various sources. so far, 2 have survived the conversion, neither of which are what you are looking for. however, the moment one makes it that meets yous specifications, ill post it for you.

Blender (http://www.blender.org/) has probably the best tutorials on the web for 3D modeling in general - but they are mainly aimed at fairly advanced users.
Anim8or (http://www.anim8or.com/main/index.html) also has a lot of good tutorials and a nice model library on their web site.
I frankly haven't worked much with Milkshape so can't comment there other than to note it probably can handle more "game format" models than any other free/shareware program. Personally, I'm mostly into video so don't do much game work.
Biturn really never had any documentation with it - and the site does not currently appear to be actively supported. For my notes, see (http://www.alice.org/community/showthread.php?t=553&highlight=Biturn&page=2 ) - though the program is pretty self explainatory.
As far as editing .ase files - often needed - just use a text editor and pay close attention to the error messages you get from Alice if an import fails.
Good Luck. :)

not precisely what youre looking for, but I trust you can make use of it.
NOTE: I GET ABSOLUTELY NO CREDIT FOR THIS MODEL. ALL CREDIT GOES TO ♮♪♭Co¬¬in L ≥♬♯ (a guy on sketchup)
it's a spartan laser :) hopefully the textures work. the axises are a bit odd, but it looks great!

ok, heres a list of what I can find for you
most every halo 3 weapon except the BR (sigh, my favorite) UNTEXTURED
energy sword, TEXTURED but in two pieces (handle and blade)
Master chief, looks great and is POSEABLE but frighteningly difficult to move properly, as there are no subparts, only parts (in other words you need to move every part of his arm at the same time)
Covenant CCS class battlecruiser (I love this model!)
Spartan laser, already gave u this one
Covenant Assault carrier: EASILY MY FAVORITE MODEL, starts out at about 1000000000 times the size of the ground but thats a quick fix
Note: I made none of the above models. if you ask me to get you any of them, I will provide credit where credit is due.

Would you mind posting all of them? I'm curious now...
Or maybe just the URL for the sources for the models. :) Most models - even free - have restrictions on postings on other web sites.

it might take a few days to find them all though, the computer is rather unorganized. when i find them all, and who made each one, ill post them for you.

I tried to load this world into Alice 2.2, and I am getting an error message saying that Alice can't open the file. Why would that be?

I can't seem to be able to move his arms - they aren't subparts of the masterchief. Is this why?

Yes. Most models developed by programs that support both an internal structure (bones) for movement and a separate 3D mesh (skin) for textures only have one mesh - no subparts. This makes texture mapping of the skin much easier - but also means you can't get much movement with the model when you just import the mesh into Alice - and Alice 2.0 doesn't support bones.

I am truly sorry this took so long. I have been incredibly busy, so I havnt gotten a chance to do this. A warning, some objects don't have textures, have very wierd axis that make them move bizarrely, are HUGE, are placed in random places, so on and soforth. I was only able to get a few weps in, I got the rocket launcher (untextured) an energy sword (textured, 2 parts) and a battle rifle (untextured but looks great) in. Also, some new ships, a UNSC frigate (textured VERY badly, but it can be fized up) a pelican, a hornet, and a phantom (untextured) Also, a UNSC Marathon Class Cruiser. I might have missed a few things. I made none of these, here are some people who get credit (might not remember the all)

Open it up with Alice.
Open up Alice, go to File -> Open, browse to this file, and select! That's all there is to it ;)
Good luck!

- and Alice 2.0 doesn't support bones.
well, theoretically, you could make bones (just a stick figure would work.....) in alice, and set all the separate peices as vehicles to them, allowing you to move the entire arm with just the movement of the vehicle bone......

Hello, I am fairly new to Alice, but I took your skin of Master Chief and I basically organized it a LOT so that the individual parts of Master Chief can be moved seperately, as one body part.
For instance, I made all of the very small pieces of his helmet be vehicle to HEAD, so if you want to move his head, you just do move HEAD or turn HEAD. I clearly labeled each major body part as well.
However, I do not know how to add skeleton, so you will still not be able to just use Master Chief as any other person in Alice, you will have to add joints to him (the best way I can think of is making an item (I use goldfish), make it invisible and small, and place it at the joints, and then set vehicle to the body part you want.)
This model of Master Chief is a world, so you have to open this file as a world, not as an imported item. Once you open the world, you can choose Master Chief and save him as an individual person.
I really hope this helps you, I worked a good 2 hours on this =P Please tell me if it helps! (The other Master Chief skin was so disorganized, I just had to organize it myself, lol)

How did you make this object?
I did not make this object, as I stated I took this object as a download from another user earlier in the post who referenced it to someone else. I merely organized it so that the parts were assigned together, and it would be a lot easier to do actions with.

I have added to my previous post, the skin of Master Chief, so now not only are the parts organized, but I have also added most of the joints and some basic movements to demonstrate how you can make Master Chief move.
Numbers 0-7 move parts of his body; F = First Person View; T = Third Person View; B = Backwards View; and Spacebar = jump (not just move up move down either, it moves his upper and lower legs, and then jumps up, and upon fall it moves legs also to show the kinetic energy of the fall.)
I hope this helps some of you understand how to make Master Chief move, and again, this is not my design, I just organized this skin and added methods and joints.
If you want me to add anything else on it, ask me and I will try to do it (next I am going to work on him pulling out a rocket launcher and firing it) Just ask me and I will try to do it for you.
Note: Once you save this file you have to open it as a world. If you only want Master Chief by himself, you have to open the world and select Master Chief from list of characters, right click, save as. Saving Master Chief will only save the actual skin (organized) and the jump command, nothing else. The jump method will be there also, but it will not work because the joints I created will not be transfered with Master Chief when importing to your own map.

Please tell me what you think about it? I would like there to be a 30th comment on here before I put in my last MasterChief.a2w, because I want it to be on its own page, so people know it is the latest version of it.
On the new one, I have added a real working rocket launcher and spartan laser, and a button for both equipping and unequipping each weapon.
EDIT: The sooner the post fills up to the thirtieth one, the sooner I will release my newest version of MasterChief.

Ok, now that someone has made the 30th post, I will make the 31st, here is my new version of Master Chief:
Look at the events bar to see what you can press to do certain things. I haven't worked on this for a while, but I believe you can shoot rockets, fire the spartan laser, etc... Tell me what you think.

Ya sure, I kinda forgot what I put in this, did it a while ago as I said before. I'm making less Alice stuff now than I did before, but I remember I thought this was good when I made it.

That's too bad that you've stopped making Alice stuff, your worlds were always very creative.
The model is very nice, and I definitely like the way the weapons were arranged (I may have never played Halo, but I've seen LOTS of Red vs. Blue, so I know that much).
By the way, if you'd like I could tell you how to soften the edges of his visor to make it look more curved (It will increase the polygon count, but not by much if the visor is all that you change).

Huh, I guess then I was going to quit, I guess I just never did. I wonder what made me go back to using Alice. Oh well, use my model if you wish.
