I have built a 3d model and save it as ASE, but when I input this model into alice, the model become invisible. How do I fix this problem.

And which software is best for building 3d model for Alice.

Those questions are much too broad to possibly answer. I can think of at least a half dozen reasons why your model wouldn't show up - and suggest at least as many possible graphics programs. :)

My basic suggestion is that you look through the Share Objects section of this forum and pick and choose things that interest you.

If you want to post the source for the model and the resulting .ase and .a2c conversions, I'll take a look at your specific case.

Personally I like Anim8or for making 3D models but (1) it has bugs, particularly with .obj format exports and (2) it has a limit number of conversion possibilities. If you want to do games and/or import "game" models, MilkShape would be a better choice. Finally, for a "serious" freeware 3D modeling program, Blender is really the only choice (though I really don't like its user interface).

If you want professional programs - there are many. Maya is popular, but very complex.

Finally, Google SketchUp is free and is very good for learning 3D - but also limited in export capabilities. (It can be done - see my posting in Share Objects).

Note: Not actually relevant to this reply, but I would like to acknowledge that your answers to simpler qustions in the forum have been a real contribution. :) You have a very nice way of getting to the core of the problem.

Thanks for reply.

Google SketchUp is my current software for modeling. But it need several convert software to convert it to ASE, some problem maybe occur during the converting.

I will try to use other software you have mention. I have installed blender before, but I don't know how to use it.:p

I've posted some comments on converting from SketchUp elsewhere in the forum - but the "big" problem is the naming conventions it uses aren't accepted by Alice. You have to fix that by editing the .ase file, which is a text file. Also, you do have to go through Blender for the conversion.

While Blender is really a powerful program - it's also "expert friendly." :p But the input/output parts of the program work well even if you don't understand or want to use everything else.
