I have the new Alice release installed--and imo--the installer was created by fools. The download package is 528 megabytes for windows and the total megabyte installation on the drive is the same--528 megabytes.

The installer is very slow. I have installed hundreds of programs and installed operating systems many times larger and much faster than this--this installer is a hog for resources--CPU-MEMORY imo. To put it simply--be patient with what they gave you because its SLOW.

Also there's no desktop shortcut to the program--no problems--its a batch file and I have photos to show this. Just right click on it and select "create shortcut." Drag and drop this to the desktop.

Here is the picture for the install info. I will keep this updated if there are any questions.

... the installer was created by fools.

Probably a bit harsh - maybe more accurate to say it wasy created for fools like me who can never get things installed in the right place. :o (I note this is also a reoccuring source of question in the forum, so I'm not alone. Also thanks for the nice screenshot of "good" results.)

The installer took about 10 minutes to run on my (XP) machine. Not the fastest, but far less time than it took to download from the server, which I apparently hit at a busy time (something that always seems to happen with large files - Murphy can't be defeated).

As far as relative memory size goes - most of the download seems to be library data files. Since theses are already compressed fairly efficiently, there really wasn't much more that could be done.
