Well as said in previous forum posts as you continue to use Alice it gets slower and slower until it usually crashes or freezes until more ram is available...
Could this be the cause of a memory leak in the software?
This is something we are aware of when building large worlds (or loading several worlds in a row), and the only thing really to do is close Alice and restart it once it gets too slow. We are not sure of the cause of this problem.

is there a minimum ram requirement? cause with my old computer i had very low ram, around 300mb, and it froze all the time. my new computer has 3gb of ram and i can work for at least 6 hours. just wandering if alice uses alot of ram. that could be the problem.

Won't try an answer in a short posting - it's a fairly complex (and IMO interesting) issue. But the basic problem is not the memory you are actually using - but the total number of memory segments the OS has to handle.
For more detail, do a forum search - and, as always, Google may give more precise results.
