Delay actions with event

Okay so I am making a story in which two people are on a carousel and it loops 5 times before it stops. One of the character then tells the user to click on the carousel to get them off. I made an event for them getting off when the user clicks on the carousel. But the problem is that I have other actions happening while the event is taking place. So, before the user clicks on the carousel, the characters are already doing the next action.
How do I delay the other actions so that the event can take place?
