This is my first person shooter in the making. Use wasd to move and use the mouse to aim and left click to shoot. Tell me what you think of it.

And a heads up, this is just an early stage of the game and it doesn't have a name so it has a pretty boring name(Aim With Mouse).

I like the concept for the game, and I like the setup, but it isn't working very well. You probably need to add another if/then for the other sides of the screen to equalize it, because when I launched it, it always rotated the camera up and to the left. Keep working on it, though. I think it has great possibilities!

I guess I'll put that into my next version of the game. And hopefully you can actually do something.

Very promising, I especially like the custom rifle. How did you get that? Did you make it yourself?

Actually, I found the rifle in the share objects section. And thanks for the feedback.

And sorry for not telling you that r is reload and q and e are peak to the left and right, I think. I haven't actually worked on it for months, so I kinda forgot the keys. Just look at my to do stuff and you'll be fine.

Does anyone else have any suggestions for future versions of the game? Such as more moves or other things I could improve on.

Is there a dodge option? That would be useful in the event of heavy gunfire or something. Also maybe something to physically repel oncoming melee attackers (like a kick which pushes them back so you can shoot them more).

However, before you try adding anything else, I seriously recommend you go over what's written already and make sure it's totally bug-free. Adding stuff around bugs just sets you up for trouble, believe me (lots of my half-projects are only half-projects because of bugs that I saw too late and had a hard time finding amidst all the extra stuff I'd added around it).

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into fixing up my bugs when the school year is over.

Whoever told me to Ditch it, could you please tell me why it is bad.

x2495iiii
09-26-2009, 01:25 AM
I'm not sure why that would be chosen by anyone, since "ditch it" would suggest that there's not a bit of recoverable work which is satisfactory (a blatant untruth). Next time, make the poll public so you can see who gave what rating.

Not to speak out against constructive criticism, but I think that was way too extreme a rating for a world which clearly had much thought and effort put into it.

So do you think I should repost this and choose the option where you can see who voted for what.

I think reposts should only be made when necessary, which is up to you in this case. I think that you should wait until the person who voted that way says what they found wrong with the game, and if they don't say anything, assume it was a spammer and ignore it.

Did you get a chance to look at my newest version of the "Fun Little Game?"

No, not yet, I think I will look at it right now.

Edit: It's pretty good

Here is my next version of it with working partially firing now. So you can shoot bullets. Its slowed down so you can see it. Just don't be too critical because its not completed yet.

Hmmm, well I was looking for the new feature you mentioned, the bullet physically coming out if the gun, and I didn't see one until I held the mouse down and ran out of ammo. Is that intentional?

Also, I'd like to say that I prefer the bullet NOT being visible, as a real bullet should be travelling to fast to be seen in most cases.

Other than that, it definitely has a lot of potential. I'd personally love to see a point-and-fire game made for Alice.

Well I actualy slowed it down so that viewers could see the bullet. One thing I am trying to figure out though is why it starts shooting so late.

here is the latest version with the coding a bit neater and glitches fixed up. Also the shooting is abit better now. But its still not complete. This is version 0.3

Sorry, I forgot to attach it to the previous post.

For future reference, you can edit current posts to add text and attachments instead of re-posting every time (since double-posting is a frowned upon habit in most forums).

As for the new version, the robot seems to be immune to gunfire now, as I can't kill it by clicking on it, but it for some reason dies when I ram it. My guess is that the bullet inside the gun is contacting the robot and making the world think the robot has been shot, since the bullet is touching it.

Also, I think that the striped ground is distracting from gameplay (move the grass down slightly or the white terrain up slightly to correct it). The gun is too large as well and should definitely be shrunk (at the moment the gun takes up a good 1/3 of the screen, when it should ideally only take up 1/6 or preferably 1/8 of the screen to increae visibility).

dubastot
09-28-2009, 06:02 PM
Actually, I haven't made the bullet go straight. right now its shooting upwards a BIT. If you slow the movement down you will see that.

Oh, ok sorry for making the gun too large.

I would also like to say, for whoever says this game is bad, they should give me feedback why it is bad. Actually from now on, whoever votes a bad thing should respond to me why it sucks.

Again, ignore them. There are plenty of people who join this forum solely to say how much they hate Alice and everyone who uses it, then flame as much as they can before they're banned.

I pity these people who apparently have no constructive use of their time.

I don't get what you mean by the ground being lined.

x2495iiii
09-28-2009, 11:30 PM
When I load the world, the ground is striped black and white. I've seen this pattern before, it comes from having two flat objects in the exact same spot, causing Alice to sort of merge them, ultimately making a striped pattern.

Very weird, that doesn't happen to me.

Anyways, here is my latest version with sniper aiming. I would appreciate it if someone could help me make the rifle go back to its original position after sniping.

Thanks! And also the shooting is much straighter now.

I also wanted to ask you X249ii, do you think I should really discontinue this after looking at its ratings. 3/8 rating are bad.

The latest version of my fps is coming out probably two weeks from now. It should include a secondary gun and night vision. Not to mention a new and improved aiming system.

x2495iiii
10-13-2009, 11:44 PM
Sounds nice! It would be especially cool if periodically the world turned black and the light got dim (or also turned black) and made it nearly impossible to see unless you used the night vision.

As far as the guns go, have you already looked through the "Weapons, vehicles and more" post I made in the share objects thread?

Yep!;)

I don't know why but for some reason every time I try to run it it has an error. Might want to try fixing that.

Doesn't seem to be happening with me. So I guess maybe you hafve the wrong version of alice. I have Alice 2.2 .:o
