This is actually really a stupid question I'm sure, but I will ask it anyway.

Is there a free program you can download that will allow you to draw your own objects and characters for Alice?

If you know of any, could you tell me?:D

I don't know of any FREE programs that can be used to model objects for import into Alice. The authors mention 3D Studio Max, USD $600-650. They also say that as long as the program you use can export models in the ASE (ASCII Scene Exporter) format you should be able to import them into Alice.

MAYA from AutoDesk is a modeling program that a lot of beginners use to learn how to model 3D objects. You can download a free, limited capability version of it from the internet. It does NOT export to ASE format. HOWEVER there is a free plugin out there called ActorX (Google it) which interacts with Maya and is supposed to be able to download in ASE format. I have never used ActorX so I do not know if it functions as advertised.

Creating models for Alice is not a simple exercise. Check out the authors suggestions for those interested in creating 3 models at: http://www.aliceprogramming.net/models/index.html

I believe they are serious when they say: We cannot stress strongly enough that experience as a graphics artist is needed to successfully build 3D models.

You can also download the latest model library - Hawaiian models from there
