Hi, Alice is a fantastic environment for object first teaching and learning! I'm going to use it in the introductory lessons of in my object first course. I'd like to use it more extensively but the lack of alternate languages (e.g italian) is a difficult for my students. Do you think to introduce a language selection tool?

Alice localization was brought up in a meeting recently. We are just starting to get a grasp of the needs of the international community and very much want to adapt Alice to use more than just English.

If you or someone you know could assist with the translation of Alice into Italian (or any other language), contact us. One of the biggest challenges of localization is actually finding a translator! :)

I could do the translation into Czech, if wanted

Petr,

Would you be interested in translating my free online Alice tutorials at http://www.dickbaldwin.com/tocalice.htm into Czeh?

I can do/help translating to Portuguese (European Portuguese) if you go ahead with Alice's language localization.

I can translate (or help with translation) to Lithuanian language. If you do make Alice translatable, I would be really glad to help you by translating it to my native language.

Alice is a great teaching environment, however, not every pupil fully understands English, so it would be very nice to have a localized version. :)
