Will somebody PLEASE find out how to import sketchup (skp) and 3ds objects into the gallery. Since I'm not too smart with file conversion, if somebody else here wouldn't mind, you know, you could help balloon the Alice gallery by converting to alice format (.ase) and uploading for the rest of us, AND TELLING US HOW YOU DO IT so we can all pitch in, or maybe just referring us to an online website that converts sketchup and 3ds formats to Alice format, and we can upload after.
Please, no silly replies that "it's too hard" - or "just do it yourself" - come on... we help each other out. One conversion per object and it's done. Forever. A quasi google-based gallery on Alice really WOULD be ideal. It IS worth it.

Quoth myself:
I exported the file from Sketchup Express as a .dae file, then downloaded a plugin which allowed Blender to import (and export) .dae files. Once imported, you can export it as a .3ds file, which can then be converted to a .ase (Alice-friendly) file. After that, however, you have to open the .ase file in notepad and delete all periods in the names of any materials or nodes in the object (and that's the hard part).

It took me about two and a half hours total of searching, downloading, converting, deleting, and testing to get it finally done.

Here's the link if you don't believe me, since there's two objects I've already converted in that thread (you'll have to scroll down a bit to find it).

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
