Installing Alice

One of my students has had many problems installing Alice. Her latest error message is:

"Count not find edu/cmu/cs/stage3/alice/authoringtool/Javaclasses"

She needs to install the program at home and I could use some help with what the problem is.

It could be a permissions problem. As the link Mr Nemo referred to, try installing Alice into My Documents or the Desktop -- someplace where the user has full permissions.

As a test, you can also try running Alice off of a usb flash drive or a cd-r. Just make sure Alice is unzipped first before trying to run it. It will not run from within the zip file.
