Was Alice used to create RuneScape? It appears perfect for the job...

I don't think so. Alice is, I believe, prohibited from being used for commercial purposes. Is that correct, Gabe?

Have you tried playing it? The whole thing looks like it could've been. Im not sure, but it even looks like the correct java output as well. I recommend you guys take a look.

I've played it, and I hate to say this- but the graphics in Runescape are far better than what Alice is capable of supplying. To top it off, I don't believe Alice is capable of handling input from 2000 people at once.:)

Fair enough. I was just wondering.

Alice is probably not capable of creating something as complex as Runescape (it would take a very dedicated [insane? ;)] Alice user to even attempt it!).

But they have a team of about 20-30 programmers, loads of moddlers and a whole lot of money to spend. I think its quite probable.

I think basically you're asking the wrong people the question. Except for the fact they aren't working with CMU, or Gabe would know, all you're getting here is guesses. I think they're very good guesses for many reasons - but also I've never played Runescape and have only visited their website once.

Why don't you make a short summary of your question (being sure to explain what Alice is) and post it on one of the sites devoted to Runescape. You surely will get replies from people more familiar with the program than I am and you might get a response from one of the actual developers. :)

I Found A Way To Use Alice For Runescape, But You Gotta Run A Program That Adds A Plugin To The Alice System.

Its Called

You forgot the "Load and execute suggestor!" command. :D

It's very important in cases of this type.

I've only played runescape once, and I got EXTREMELY bored with it once the tutorial began (no offense to runescape fans). The graphics on the Low setting look somewhat Alice-capable, but I'm with Nemo on this one... I believe the program code would be WAY too advanced to make on alice, unless if you were Bill Gates or something (which I highly doubt because he's too busy planning how to build his software empire! )

Java was used to make Runescape, but Alice was not. This is a fact I have picked up since I used to be obsessed by RS.

yeah, i doubt that the creators of runescape used alice for their game.

Yes, runescape is programmed in java but, rs is programmed in runescript their own java mod. Kind of like scar, runescape, is programmed in a modded version of java so it is more user friendly. Btw, still obsessed in runescape ^_^

well the truce about runescape is that they run on jave image supporting system. i read a little report about runescape, and i am super sure that runescape is 100% not made out of allice. and frankly, i don't even think allice is even created back then while runescape exicted.
but however, ou can make a game like runescape single player if you put in a lot of work. and you have to start simple. because for us olriginally players, runescapes grphics is way whorse than allice when it was first made, but after the upgrates it had now, it's a great game.

:D sorry about the grammer, im to lazy to fix it
