passing through a gate

ok so i've trying to put the finishing touches on my driving game and i want the gates to dissapear when the car passes through but i cant seem to make them do this, they either will go away as soon as the world starts or they don't do anything at all, can anyone offer some tips or ideas its becoming really really frustrating. Thanks in advance.

You should post the world here so that we have an idea of what we're looking at.

Just put a cube in the middile of the gate, make it showing = false then just say Gate showing = false when car is within 3 meters of cube. Easy as that, hope it helps
