Does anyone have a fix for this?
I am using Alice 2.2 [06/2010] update. When I set the preferences for code style to Java In Color, the preference will not save.
I restart Alice and it defaults back to Alice style.
I am using an HP tablet with Windows 7 pro.
Thanks,
Don

I've never gotten the preferences to save permanently either, so I'm doubting that Alice actually even supports it.
You could always try re-installing Alice though. That fixes certain problems on occasion.
Also, I noticed that the more recent versions of Alice, though much faster, are less reliable than the older ones.
Try using 2.0 or an older copy of 2.2 and see if it can be done with them.

When you say re-installing, you mean to download it again...correct? Since there is no installer.
Just want to verify what you mean.
Thanks,
Don

Yeah, that's what I mean. Apologies for any confusion.

Alice has trouble saving preferences if its installed in a directory it does not have write access to (e.g. Program Files).
There's 2 solutions to this:
1) Install alice somewhere else.
2) Edit the version.txt file to tell alice where to save. See http://www.alice.org/index.php?page=downloads/download_alice2.2 for more info (under "networked machine") I suggest C:\Users\your user name\AppData

I saw in another thread that you're a teacher - your students might have more restrictive settings on thier lab machines. I had to have Alice set up in my lab to save to the students' personal network drives. Talk to your tech dudes.
