Can some convert this sketch up file? I have the link here: since I can't download anything at the moment (which is why I didn't download sketch up):

If I remember tomorrow, I'll give it a shot (you can always private message me later to catch my attention ;) ).

i iz sleepy... :o

EDIT: Seems too high-poly, though I may be wrong. I'll have to see when I import into Blender.

EDIT: Ack, I get an error trying to open it in Blender. Sorry.

Oh well thanks anyway.

Wait! Is it possible to get rid of the shield and lower the amount of polygons? Take the colors out if you have to too.

falcolobo

Can you do another one if the previous one doesn't work?
OH YEAH! Check it out:

Yes, but unfortunately I can't get it to import into Blender at all, and that means I can't modify the model at all. (I just re-downloaded the model and still get the error)

Perhaps someone who has Sketchup installed (I use just Blender) will have some more luck with it.

You need collada files (.dae), not sketchup files to get it to import into Blender.

falcolobo

I have Sketchup. How do I do it?

x2495iiii

Just open it and go to File>Export>3d model and select .dae as the file type.

It has the Collada option to download (which is why I don't have certain Noble team models; they're only available as .skp), but I get an error.

Just clarifying.

This is off topic, but i love Code Geass, rewatching it right now for the third time :P

But i know nothing about converting and modeling so... I just got a couple online friends on steam that could help probably help if the errors keep occuring.

Well thank you....I love Code Geass too. And just for you:

- As you can tell I am a very loyal Code Geass fan.

Well...I've given up on that how about these to convert? Anyone of these works

Sorry for the insane amount of files, but this is what I could find, that had small amounts of polygons. Any of them can be converted. Any one. Thank you.

I can tell :) and same with me, and nice models, it would be nice to have them :p

Dubs has shown a proficiency for converting and cutting models for use in Alice. Ask him.

Oh wait, dubs said he can't cause of phantom errors already.

Crap...

That leaves me. And I hate converting.

Ugh again.

Hey dubs, if I get it working in Blender, you think you could cut them into subparts?

debussybunny563
10-20-2010, 02:21 PM
It's in the PM.

Answer is yes, but I can't work on it till later today.
Also, if they're too high poly, if you could cut it down it would be appreciated. :)

falcolobo
10-20-2010, 06:08 PM
Very appreciated if you cut down the number of polys. Thank you. :D

debussybunny563
10-20-2010, 06:40 PM
Hmm. Relatively low-poly actually.

However, my problem right now is that when I import, I only get certain limbs.

Once again, if x can get it in sketchup, hopefully the whole thing will be there.

x2495iiii
10-20-2010, 07:18 PM
Just resize it man. Should show the whole thing then.

debussybunny563
10-20-2010, 07:24 PM
That's literally it. No other parts, just what's shown.

Resizing has no effect, 'cuz that's all that's there.

x2495iiii
10-20-2010, 07:29 PM
Shouldn't be the case, as that's happened to me and the only problem was that Blender couldn't show the whole model at once due to size.

If the model is corrupt or badly done, though (several in the sketchup warehouse are done by amateurs, meaning they've got holes an amateur would miss), there's nothing you can do about it. Or at least, there's nothing I've found that can be done about it.

falcolobo
10-20-2010, 07:57 PM
Well, any of those can be used. Not just limited to one. Sorry for giving you this burden! I would do it my self, but downloading on my computer is restricted (thank my mom for that).

debussybunny563
10-20-2010, 07:59 PM
Same, man; I can't open the SketchUp Installer thanks to Win 7's UAC (Utter Absolutism Conspiracy).

Prevents me from getting a cool screensaver too. :(

x2495iiii
10-20-2010, 08:28 PM
Man.

Now there's another reason why laptops rule.

They're yours and your alone. The only restrictions are ones you set yourself. If my lappy couldn't download new programs, I couldn't do my schoolwork, so even if I had digitally overprotective parents, they couldn't put restrictions on it without nullifying its use entirely.

Also, why don't you guys just ask your parents to allow this particular download. It's purely educational and completely free. It doesn't even have ads in it. They should be all too happy see their children pursuing creativity.

Least that's how I see it.

debussybunny563
10-20-2010, 08:29 PM
This is a laptop.

With the dreaded UAC.

x2495iiii
10-20-2010, 08:38 PM
So what you're telling me is it isn't your laptop, correct? If it was yours, you'd have all the necessary passwords and privileges necessary to bypass (or better yet, disable) UAC.

debussybunny563
10-20-2010, 08:40 PM
I have a standard user account, and don't have the passwords necessary for bypassing all that crap.

No admin privileges. Darn.

x2495iiii
10-20-2010, 08:43 PM
Right there. Why were you given a standard account instead of an admin?

falcolobo
10-20-2010, 08:46 PM
Can we please deviate away from this????

debussybunny563
10-20-2010, 08:46 PM
Ask my parents.

Also:
We recommend creating a standard account for each user.

EDIT: Hmm, missed my 555th post.

falcolobo
10-20-2010, 08:46 PM
So any luck with the Samus sketchup file?

x2495iiii
10-20-2010, 08:52 PM
Meh. Ask them to install sketchup for you. It's awesome, free, and educational, there's no real reason not to.

Also, if you can't get the models to work, I'll just do it.

falcolobo
10-21-2010, 06:23 PM
They said to wait because we're getting a new Desktop.

falcolobo
10-25-2010, 06:39 PM
I don't really need anything other than the Samus object. Is anyone trying to convert it into 3d?

x2495iiii
10-25-2010, 08:13 PM
Dubs is supposed to be, but I'm not sure if he can due to his inability to download Sketchup.

If he doesn't get it tomorrow, I can give a shot, I suppose.

debussybunny563
10-25-2010, 08:39 PM
You were supposed to convert to .blend...

Hey dubs, if I get it working in Blender, you think you could cut them into subparts?

I'm waiting...

x2495iiii
10-25-2010, 09:49 PM
YOU said I didn't have to...somewhere along the line.

I don't feel like looking for the quote.

But thanks for telling me otherwise now, doof.

debussybunny563
10-26-2010, 06:47 AM
I doubt it, x.

=P :p

falcolobo
10-26-2010, 06:15 PM
Alright! I have Sketchup now! How do I export a 3d model from Sketchup to blender so that our friend Debussy or you x2495iiii can convert it? Also how is this model? I took out the shield, which had over 3000 polygons or faces. I can't seem to attach it though.:(

x2495iiii
10-27-2010, 08:03 AM
You just click File>Export>3d Model... and it should open a window that lets you choose Collada (.dae) as a file type. Choose that, then click OK and it should export the contents of the sketchup file in a format readable by blender.

falcolobo
10-27-2010, 10:40 AM
I can do everything other than the blender thing. Can you do that for me?

falcolobo
10-27-2010, 09:32 PM
Okay, I got it into .dae (which is Collada correct?). Here is the URL:

http://www.mediafire.com/?5f5fe9oyhf6e8a1

Please help me! My animation will be so great with it!

falcolobo
10-27-2010, 09:33 PM
Wait would it be possible to use the shield as another object and manage to vehicle it to my Gundam?

x2495iiii
10-28-2010, 06:47 AM
Yes, by deleting the gundam and keeping the shield when you click the export button, you can export the shield only.

falcolobo
10-28-2010, 03:11 PM
Is anyone trying to convert it right now? Or have I stupidly put it in the wrong format?

falcolobo
10-28-2010, 06:06 PM
Okay, not to sound desperate, but I am, I am running out of time. I need this object soon. Will it be in groups like this:

Entire object
>Upper Body
>Right Arm
>Hand

Will it be?

debussybunny563
10-28-2010, 07:18 PM
ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!

This is really pissing me off; many Sketchup models aren't importing correctly!:mad::mad:
They're all one discombobulated mass!:mad::mad:

Is anyone trying to convert it right now? Or have I put it in the wrong format?

If you could convert to .blend instead of .dae (.blend is a Blender file--extension Blender files have), then I will be able to convert it properly.

Curse you, Sketchup!

falcolobo
10-30-2010, 06:23 PM
Forget it it wont work. Can someone try to convert my best friend Samus please?

Quoth x: Here you go. Took way longer than it should've due to several stray bits of mesh that I had to fuse to main subparts one by one but,

-the model's converted
-it's cut into subparts
-the subparts are layered
-the centerpoints are perfect
-the colors are almost dead on (with the exception of the visor, which I've compensated for by including a visor object you can import alongside the samus object)
-I even included a few poses and a lower body walking method just to start you out.

You're flippin' welcome.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have video games to play/make.

falcolobo
10-31-2010, 09:31 PM
I love you x2495iiii. I mean it in a way, that-means-that-you-saved-my-project-and-helped-me-keep-my-100-%-average-still-a-going-and-not-the-other-way. Not to be stingy, can I get the raw object? I'm going to try to reverse convert it so that I can edit it on 3d-Studio max that my parents finally agreed on buying me.

Quoth me again: Certainly. Here's a zip containing three models: The .blend file of my work before converting to .ase (in case you prefer working with Blender), the 3ds file of the model before I'd done any work on it (largely subparted, but with lots of extra bits and crappy centerpoints), and the original Sketchup file. N-Joi.

falcolobo
11-01-2010, 10:21 AM
No, the original Alice object that you converted, I have something to do with that.

falcolobo
11-01-2010, 06:40 PM
Forget I ever asked. But can you convert this too? can't have samus without her ship now can we?
