Functions object is within....of object2

hi guys,
i just wonder what does the functions object is within <threshold> of object do?

I have tried to apply it in my world but it seems to me that it doesn't show any difference.

can you guys help me to explain about this?
an attachment of video file will be really helpful.

It returns true when the first object is within the set distance of the other object, it returns false when not in that radius.
