I have just made my first Alice movie using 2.2 in OS X, and the .a2w features many text bubbles. When I exported it, the text and bubbles completely disappeared from the .html file. I need folks to be able to see the text. How can I fix this?

I am just beginning to learn about programming, am not tech-savvy, and would appreciate as dumbed-down an answer as possible. Thanks!

I too, have experienced this problem, and I hate to tell you this, but there is nothing you can do to change this. In order for your speech bubbles to show, you need to create a speech bubble as a seperate object, and import it as a billboard. Clicking here (http://wigflip.com/ds/) will take you to a link where you can make a speech bubble, and save it as a photo, which you can import as a billboard.

Here is a list of other things that don't work when you export an Alice world as an HTML file.

1.) No matter what an object's opacity is set to, the object is always displayed in 100% opacity when exported as an HTML file.

2.) Even when an object has isShowing set to false, it still appears visible on the screen when exported.

3.) When you ask the user a question via a pop-up box, the box doesn't work when exported as an HTML file.

You can report bugs like this here (http://www.alice.org/index.php?page=contact/contact), or on the Bugs and Troubleshooting Forum (http://www.alice.org/community/forumdisplay.php?f=18).

Thanks for the response. What a drag! I started experimenting with Alice so that I could create dialogues between characters.

I just tried importing a bubble as a billboard, and it did show up. But it there a way to make the bubbles appear and then disappear as the action in the video progresses?

I wish I could just take a screen capture video of the .a2w while it's playing, but so far I haven't been able to find a free tool that will capture more than a minute's worth of video.

Q: Is there a way to make the bubbles appear and then disappear as the action in the video progresses?
A: Yes there is. Click on the properties tab, and set isShowing to false. You can drag and drop isShowing into the code and have it switch during the animation.

A: Alice comes with a .mov exporter, but when you export it, it speeds up everything 10 times, so use this simple formula to slow it down ten times, so that way when it records, it plays at the desired speed. Here is the formula: duration / 10 = duration slowed down 10 times. If you do not want your Alice world to be in mov format, export it as an mov anyway, and click here (http://www.youconvertit.com/) to convert it.
