Alice won't start on XP Pro

Have downloaded and extracted the latest version of Alice and when i dble click on Alice.exe the splash screen comes up for a couple of seconds and then disappears. Nothing else happens. I have even waited 5minutes.
Machine Specs:
Win XP Pro with all latest updates
AMD Athlon XP2500
Epox Motherboard 8RDA+ ( Not Overclocked)
1GB Ram
Saphire 6600GT Garphics Card 128MB
Seagate 120GB Harddrive - plenty of space available.

I have fixed it. 2 things. I set the Screen resolution to 1024x768 which Alice runs at. Alice still didn't run. I then went in the Alice\Required folder and clicked on the batch file "IfAliceFailsTryThis" and it generated a hs_err_pid text files. All in the Required folder. I assume these are error log files. In amongst the lines of info were references to Java and Sun and Fonts. I remembered that i had decreased the number of fonts in my Font folder. Luckily i had backed up the original and so reinstated it. And it worked!! It runs!! :)

This is the kind of little detail that can drive you crazy - and too many times when someone finds the problem, they're too (understandably) relieved that the problem is gone to also think to share the solution.
