arty-fishL's community pack is FANTASTIC, and I highly recommend getting it if you haven't already. But, I had a few questions for anyone who knows what the "tools" section is all about. If anyone has an explanation of what any of the tools do, that'd be great. I tried figuring them out and was overwhelmed by the number of options, and I had no idea what any of them did. So if anyone's got a very basic (or at least user-friendly) explanation of what any of those tools do, it would be greatly appreciated. And I'm sure arty knows himself (or at least he knows where he got the tool from when he grouped all the files and he might be able to direct me to someone who does know), so if someone wants to redirect him here, feel free.

EDIT: I redirected him by posting as a visitor message already :D

I replied to the visitor message, but you didn't ask all these questions in it.
The tools:

Arty_fishL_Scripter - thread (http://www.alice.org/community/showthread.php?t=5466) - that allows you to code Jython in your worlds easily, if you dont know Jython (or Python) then your best not using this.

IAloader - thread (http://www.alice.org/community/showthread.php?t=5791) - I don't remember exactly what this does, but its some sort of tech example to show how external images and audio can be loaded at runtime, you probably won't need this.

IOTool - thread (http://www.alice.org/community/showthread.php?t=6758) -this allows you to perform basic file in/out operations for game saving etc, its quite useful.

MusicBoxV1 - thread (http://www.alice.org/community/showthread.php?t=1779) - this was a useful tool to make using audio in Alice easier, the person who made this is no longer active, but its fairly easy to get your head around anyway.

Restart_button - thread (http://www.alice.org/community/showthread.php?t=5508) - that's basically what it is, put it in your world and when you click it it restarts the world, just like the other restart button in the bar at the top.

WorldLoaderTool - thread (http://www.alice.org/community/showthread.php?t=6550&highlight=loader) - with this you can link worlds together. If the user has the worlds that are linked all in the same folder then this tool can be used to link them all together for infinite possibilities.

Hope that helped.

That's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!

And I appreciate the thread links, most people couldn't be bothered to take the time out of their day, but I just wasn't sure where to start.

HOLY CRAP!!! That world loader tool is excellent! I have one question though. I don't want to get my hopes up in case I'm wrong, but if I'm creating a game that has mini games used in it, does this tool allow me to create an interactive overworld where I can click on whatever object, and have it load a corresponding puzzle, and then record the puzzle score in the overworld? Please tell me that the program has this capability! I'm kind of freaking out over how awesome that is!

Firstly watch my video tutorial, so you know how to use it.

The way I would do it is I would have a boolean variable in the master world that says "first time" set to true. I would also have the "score" number variable. In each of the sub-worlds I would also have a "score" and "first time" variable. When you click on a puzzle I would have it load the world for the puzzle clicked on and pass just the score variable across. When your done with that puzzle I would have it set "first time" to false, load the master world again and pass the score across. Then when the master world loads "first time" would be false and it would know you have played a game, so you could do something with that.

I hope that wasn't too confusing, if you have any questions just ask.
