Hey!
While Alice seems to run fine on my computer, playing movies and responding happily to my mouse clicks, it refused to let me drag and drop anything. When I tried, absolutely nothing happened. But on my child's computer, it worked perfectly. That struck me as odd, as my computer has much more horsepower :)
Anyway, after poking around a bit, I finally figured out that the problem is that I had my mouse buttons switched (ie left handed mouse). Putting them back to a right handed mouse fixed the problem. I can now drag and drop to my heart's content.
Thanks
Beetledad

I'm running Vista and my wife did something unknown to the computer while on the Internet. I've fixed that but now Alice won't let me drag and drop instructions. Interestingly, I can drag and drop Control Structures (Do in order, etc) but cannot drop instructions into them.

I've since learned that if I start Alice with Run As Administrator that it will let me drag and drop. This is consistent with the change I made to my computer. I used to have Administrator priveleges but I changed that and made a separate Admin account after the problems. So now, why would Alice need Administrator privileges to run on Vista?

I run two monitors. I just starting pushing the Alice window into the second monitor. I did not push it over while I was debugging this issue but now that I thought I had it nailed, I did and guess what! Alice won't drag and drop in the second monitor. It will in the first but not in the second.
To sum it up, I am running Alice now by using the first monitor and admin privileges, so the urgency has fallen. However, the curiousity level is rising. I sure hope someone knowledgeable can comment.

I have a classroom of 30 computers. Periodically a computer will stop letting the student drop and drag. At first I thought it was a setting on that computer because it happened in 2 different class periods to the same machine. However, I moved the affected student to another machine and it happened again. Now I am wondering if the student is accidentally doing something or if has something to do with their computer accounts. I can not change any privileges for anyone so I hope that is not the answer.
