Labelling Alice objects

Dear All Who Read This

I would like to be able to distinguish between each of a set of - say - White Rabbits on screen. I could use 'physical' attributes like size and orientation and so on but I would like something like a text string or a number on thei chests like an athletes number. I think I could hack it with speech bubles but I suspect that it will look awful. Any ideas?

Note that if you do use the texture approach, this does give you a unique object property that can be tested with Boolean expressions.
