OK, we were just getting silly here.
Watch a cannon blow up a building.
(my son is not happy that I added an
arm flying out of the building).

Sounds like you'd like Explogen. It's freeware available at http://www.kenginegaming.com/explogenpage.php .
Import the results into Alice as a series of billboards and store as a list (I don't recommend using an array - they generally don't work well), preferrably with alpha level transparency in the background. In addition to being fun, it's a good way to learn lists, timed loops, branching and some other good stuff (like dynamically changing the properties of an object). See the Fire Animation object in the library for an example.
