Default Cool Things removed in Alice 3.beta - 10-23-2009, 10:12 AM

1. What happened to the events panel? That was like the coolest thing in Alice :\

2. Why can't you right-click on objects in the Alice world anymore? That was very useful... :'(

3. Why was the 'methods' tab renamed 'procedures'? Aren't they really called Methods in java?

the events panel is gone. it appears that events are now created as they would be in raw java code. As listeners off the class level object itself

It was very useful, mainly because that half of the instructions was and is known as 'design time'.

I have no logical reason for #3

I'll hazzard a guess as to #3...

Both procedures and functions are technically "methods"
functions are methods that return a value
procedures are methods that do not

As I said, just a guess.

To add events, like mouse controls and "when a key is typed," go to the world's procedures and drag "Add mouseListener" or "Add keyListener" onto the scripting area, then specify the characteristics of the event, like the action performed and the event trigger.

And this, my friends, is my 500th post. BOO YAH!

Default billboard - 11-19-2009, 07:43 PM

Earlier today I could insert a billboard. Tonight there is no billboard option. Why would it have gone?

Using Alice 3.000.64 (but might have been using 61 earlier, can't remember)
