Default Alice 3.0 Question - 12-03-2008, 03:14 PM

I have a question about Alice 3.0,

What format/s will it save in?
and,
In what formats will it be able to export?

Thanks,

My understanding is that it will have its own format to save and load,
but will be able to import and export in java,
and able to export in various video (which is already partially supported in Alice 2.2)

I am new to Alice and am trying 3.0 beta. I see it has saved xxx.a3w file.

I tried to open an xxx.a2w file and Alice crashed. Is this normal ? Do I need to reinstall or what ? Is there a way to use a a2w file in the 3.0 beta ?

It would appear not - in fact I think that was one of the initial limitations accepted when the 3.0 goals were defined. If you unzip an .a2-- and an .a3-- file, you will see that they are quite different.

I'm not the greatest expert on this, but I think that is because they wanted
(1) to be able to really import and export true Java files, and
(2) to use the much more complex Sim2 models from EA
