Default A new method - 11-22-2011, 08:56 PM

Im taking a class where we are required to create a game using Alice. It has had its difficulties, only because Alice has, well, a few problems, but I have created, or at least I think that I have created, a new method. I call it the "Paddle-ball method". My method involves placing a sphere within the barrel of the gun and making it so that when a certain button is pressed, the sphere moves forward as a bullet would. It then turns invisible and comes back to the gun. The attached file is just a world I created in order to work out the methods I will be using in my game, so I didn't bother with the font of the bullet counter or the scenery. It would be great to get some opinions and some criticism

Nice.

Similar methods have been used by other gamers on the forums before, though.

I myself used 10 "paddleballs" to portray the machine gun and shotgun bullets in SB.

It was an excellent way to portray bullets without spawning and deleting objects, as that isn't enabled in vanilla copies of Alice.

If you want full backwards compatibility with the bullets, you ought to turn isShowing to false. Old versions of Alice have bugged transparency. If you noticed, the old versions past 2010 show 0% transparency and you can actually see the object slightly.

Yeah I thought that someone else probably had thought of that already...
