I need help making a checkers game.

Okay, I want to make a checkers game. How can i make it so the pieces can only stay in the black squares, and how do i make it so they jump over on another and all the basic checkers stuff..... I need help, it's really complex.

Sounds like the most difficult thing would be the AI (Artificial Intelligence), unless its two player. The hopping animation, rules, ext isn't really that complicated, unless your new at this type of stuff.

I think you should experiment with Alice and get the basics down, then draw out how you would think the program would work in Alice. Then start making the methods for the various movements, animations, all that good stuff.
Then wright the code for the rules and how your virtual world works, then do the AI, or polishing, or what ever you have in mind.
