A website is subject to whatever laws the country the server is hosting at. It doesn't necessarily mean that the website is of that country's nature, only its location. For example, many illegal websites that thrive on piracy are country-hoppers, so if it doesn't like American copyright laws, they take their business somewhere where the copyright laws don't apply, such as China or Russia, and they continually hop countries until their pursuers either give up or take them down. This doesn't mean that they ever change their focus—an American piracy website that moved to Russia is still going to be primarily American users.
The deal with copyright laws is that they don't apply outside of the country that they were made, so international treaties are made so that the related countries must accept any copyrights created in either country. However, this has never been very effective, because for any country to force another to subdue any piracy websites, they have to file a subpoena, which can be a very long process.

My website is not french. The company might be that runs the forums, but why are you bringing french laws into this?

Did you read what Mr Kidnapper said?

I registered, but it was annoying registering, because all the input boxes had white backgrounds with white text, so I had to highlight the text just to see it.

I hate to say this, but my antivirus says your forum has a virus.
I was browsing the forums, when a little widget said I needed to update a player to watch a video. I clicked, and...

Either there's a big misunderstanding, or there's something you need to fix.

Video? I don't have any videos on my website. Hmm, maybe some ads are poping up for your site. It never said there was a virus for me. What browser are you running?
