Talking Need Guidance. - 05-14-2012, 08:41 PM

Problem: How can I make it so that 5 foxes attempt to tag my monkey? Also my monkeys' goal is to collect 10 chickens and when he does make Alice keep count and display a winnning screen at the end . Sounds Simple and Ridiculous but we need help. Is there anyone that can Assist us in this process?

I have basic knowledge on "vehicles" and "if/else" "threshold/distance" functions so no need for the basics. No clue on how to keep the score or have "comp. AI"

Complete AI's, unfortunately, are insanely difficult, usually accomplished by a team of programmers over a long period of time.

However, if you just want the foxes to "move toward" the target, that wouldn't be too hard.

You also should make a variable that increments each time a chicken is collected, along with the chicken disappearing. When the variable reaches 10, display the win method.

I can teach you how to display the score on the screen if you want, just ask.

So the player plays the monkey, you want 5 foxes to chase the monkey(player), the player has to collect 10 chickens, and once you get 10, you win?

Simple AI is not that difficult. Getting the foxes to chase you is fairly easy. Just make they "turn to face" you, and then "move towards" you in a loop. Tweak it how ever you want. The foxes chasing isn't that difficult, and the scoring isn't either. It involves increments and texts. Or, you make a method that looks like the one attached below, and whenever you get "within" a certain distance of the chicken, it activates the method. Pace that function on all 10 chickens so anyone you go to it activates the method. Then, have a constant variable that is checking for that number to reach 10, and then when it reaches 10 (10 == 10), it says you win or something. Check out the file below.

This is just one example.

I just made this project.

I understand that its a difficult task. & yes all i would need is the foxes to move towards and somewhat attempt to tag the monkey so that when they are in a distance to it the losing screen apears (nothing fancy) if that helps.
Besides that I think I will need to expiriment with the idea you gave me.

Like I state in my comment, the AI that you are attempting is not difficult and could be done without much time.
