texture on import

Question texture on import - 05-01-2010, 10:14 AM

I just imported an ase model into Alice that consisted of 750 flat squares that I had made in sketchup, this was to save time from copying a square that many times in Alice and positioning it etc.
It was deliberatly untextured. I tried applying textures, because the world requires the squares to change textures a lot, but only the main colour (or color ) from the texture showed up.

What is wrong?

Texture application in Alice involves applying the photo to the model as a whole if it's a sealed model (only the outside is visible, the inside can't bee seen if you move the camera inside the model), and applying it individually to each polygon if it isn't. My guess is your model is having the texture applied to each square, which means (since it's two planes) it'd be shrunk down to the size of the square and applied to both sides.

thats annoying, i will try applying a texture before conversion, then coverting. then maybe texture orientations will be saved and changing tetures will work, i dont know yet
