Default Jython & Alice - 02-01-2007, 01:26 PM

Hi everyone,

I've starting using Alice a couple of weeks ago, in class, and got curious about the Jython/Python interface. I downloaded it on my home computer and looked at this link:

http://www.alice.org/bvw02fall/scripting/scripting.html

However, I couldn't find the 'enable Jython' option that's shown there. Does my version have this disabled? What else could it be?

Thanks in advance!

Arrow Scripting - 02-01-2007, 03:32 PM

To enable scripting, you need to find and edit the configuration file (named .alice). For details, see http://www.westga.edu/~drocco/alice/scripting.html.

Be aware that the scripting option is only partially implemented in the current version of Alice and can be fairly unpredictable. There are several posts in the forum on this subject - a quick search should give you some additional information.
