Default Getting instructions for running my program to display once my world starts - 01-19-2009, 06:24 PM

Does anyone know how to get instructions to come up once you begin a world? I've created a game using Alice, but I'd like to have the instructions on how to play the game pop up so that the user knows how to play! Anyone???

Use the [Print] command to say what you want for controls or information. It will display in a box below your Alice screen. You can also make objects say things as well with the object.say command.

Or, you could create a 3D-textbox object from the Gallery and have that display at the startup.

Suggestion 3 - another option. Make a billboard with the instructions on it and make it appear and disappear at the start of the game.

Try all three options and use the one that looks best - that's the real test here.
