Default 9 week 8th grade Alice class - 08-11-2011, 09:19 PM

I had planned to use Alice 2.2 with the tutorials from Susan Rogers/Duke University. I was informed by the tech director that he was not able to install Alice on Windows 7. He put Alice 3.0 on instead. I was wondering if that would be appropriate for this class or if I should go with Storytelling Alice instead. Any ideas...Either Alice 3.0 or Storytelling Alice for a 9 week class--for 8th graders and/or how to get Alice 2.2 to work on Windows 7. Help!!! School starts on Tuesday!

Please make sure that you are not running Alice from the zip file. You will need to copy/move the Alice 2.2 folder (from the zip file) to your computer. Then run the Alice.exe file in your Alice2.2 folder.

Note: There are schools complaining about permission problems, they are not able to create files and folders on their computers. If this is the case with your computer, then you will need to get them to give you permission to these folders: Alice 2.2 and its folders and Alice home directory (.alice2) folder.

Please post what happens when you start Alice. Do you see the splash screen, do you get an error, or is Alice not starting up at all?

Thanks for your help. It seems to work after I close the following error message. What can be done about this error?

Alice version: 2.2 08/05/2011

You should not be getting that error everytime you start Alice. You can just close the dialog box. Nothing bad is going to happen to your Alice.

Yeah, it has something to do with the newest version. I just close it out and everything is fine.
