Default Worlds Won't Open... - 10-10-2011, 06:43 PM

So for my Computer Science class, our professor puts all the worlds he creates in class on a community computer drive for all us students to access and reference later. In class, he can open these worlds from the drive and they perform perfectly. But when I'm on my laptop in my dorm, I get a message saying Alice cannot run a world from a ZIP file.

None of the worlds I've tried to run are from a ZIP file. They are .a2w files and I've tried everything I can think of but the worlds will not open and/or run.

that happened to me to. Just save the object in the example worlds folder in the Alice folder. Then open Alice and go to example worlds and the world you saved there out to be there

For me, extracting all the downloaded files to the place where you keep your saved worlds works best. Basically, go download winrar, open it up, find your professor's world that you downloaded, and extract all to where you keep your saved worlds for Alice. It works for me, and I hope it works for you too!

You are trying to run Alice from its zip file. Please extract Alice to your desktop before running alice.exe.
