Default Could not find? Alice not opening - 06-04-2008, 09:12 PM

"Could not find edu/cmu/cs/stage3/alice/authoringtool/JAlice class"

The above is what turned up after I extracted the files to the folder "program files" and i tried to open Alice. So it wouldn't open. I would appreciate it if someone woul get back to me on this, or if they need info.

--Thanks

Default Fixed problem - 12-08-2008, 10:07 PM

ok so I had the same problem with the java error message and then copying the dll to the alice folder, then getting the other error message. The problem was that vista wont extract all of the files when it is unzipped (i dont know why) so I downloaded a different unzip program called 7 zip. you can get it free at 7-zip.org then select your zipped folder of alice and unzip it through that program and it worked for me perfectly. hope it works and good luck

Default Do try 7zip - 12-10-2008, 02:11 PM

I have had the same problem unzipping the files even with XP. I think the problem is that there are some .rar files that don't extract correctly - but have no idea why. 7-zip has always worked in these cases - and it's free.

Note: for an interesting discussion of 7-zip, see
