Default Sound Issues - 02-13-2012, 02:54 AM

On exporting the Alice world both as a file and on Youtube the sound file doesnot play.

Soundfiles in MP3 and wav format were used to check compatability.Either ways the sound doesnot play.

Where is the problem lying.Kindly respond.

Thanks

The exporting feature in Alice is farily new and still has a few issues. A new version of Alice game out on December 1st. If you don't have that, download that and try exporting again.

Default Audio file format - 04-23-2012, 09:46 AM

I found a way to import audio into Alice 2.2
first save your work as a wav and then convert the audio file with a FLV to AVI MPEG WMV 3GP MP4 iPod Converter into mp3.

Default Using mp3 files in Alice - 11-06-2012, 02:30 PM

Having the same problem as others. I wanted to use an mp3 file as background, but I don't hear the music playing.

I'm a novice with Alice, so I'm wondering if I missed setting some parameter/argument.

Default Alice and .mp3 - 11-07-2012, 08:05 AM

There are sometimes variations in .mp3 files so that you will not be able to hear them in Alice. When this happens, open the file in a sound editor such as Audacity (a very nice open source sound editor available at http://audacity.sourceforge.net), and save it again as an .mp3, and / or .wav.

This usually solves the problem.

That's a good idea actually. Thanks again. It's always nice to have the administrators help out.

Thanks for the help. I did re-save the file using Audacity and can hear the music with no problems.

I've been struggling with this one today. Some mp3s wouldn't play so I thought it would be a bright idea to save fresh .WAV or .MP3 files of these songs, then import them again. They played perfectly and I had this smug grin ...

... up until the moment I tried to save the world.

The save bar would freeze on whatever whatever sound files I imported, a hair away from finishing. Eventually it would ask to retry or give up. Either option just removed all of the sounds from the world.

Some people in another thread suggested that the sound files are too large and Alice doesn't like it. When a 2 out of 5 of the songs were working, before using audacity, it saved quickly without error at >30mb. Now, with even one of the smallest modified sound files, Alice refuses to save.

Any suggestions??

Default saving with sound - 12-06-2012, 06:27 AM

I assume that if you remove all the sound files, then you can save your world?

If this works, save the world, quit Alice, restart Alice, open the world, add the file, and save right away...

I am also assuming that you do not have the sound files open in another app at the same time (perhaps you previewed the sound before adding it to Alice?)

Keep us posted...

Thanks,
