Default Objects not highlighting - 05-27-2015, 08:26 AM

When an object is clicked, it doesn't highlight. If the program is restarted the problem goes away some of the time, but not always. Program is being run on a windows 7 machine.

More detail is needed.

Did you turn off highlighting in preferences?

I'd also like more detail on the specific action you're attempting. It may not be a bug at all.

For example, clicking dummy or invisible objects will not highlight them, because they are not responsive to mouse events in the rendering window. Also, clicking large objects will highlight them, but if they overlap the camera, these highlights may be invisible.

Can you attach a world file for us to review and try for ourselves?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, the problem is from a fellow teacher. We are using the latest version of Alice (3.2 I think). What she says happens is that

" the objects [show] on the screen and when you use the drop down menu they appear but then when you click to move it the software pops back to the world/camera option rather than object."

I had suggested she uninstall and reinstall the program. Just curious if anyone else has had this issue and how it has been resolved.

You are correct. It would appear to be a Bug in 3.2.5., and it would appear to have something to do with object in question.

As an example, I dragged a Bluebird and a Delivery Truck into a new world Setup. When I click on the truck, it is selected as expected, and if "Translation" is selected, I can drag it around.

This doesn't work with the Bluebird. If I click on it, the selection drops back to World. A possible work-around is to select this.bluebird from the dropdown, click the "Translation" button, move the mouse over one of the direction arrows until it changes color, and then click and drag the Arrow to move the bluebird in one direction or another.

This will work, but it's still a Bug.

Windows... that explains everything.

You need to specify what the problem is.
