Default CMM Lobby? - 04-11-2010, 07:15 PM

hey. I was thinking about multiplayer, and the easiest way to do it would be to have a community maintained multiplayer lobby. This would be a publicly accessible data storage area online. For each game or session, a file or files, or even directories could be made. Now, for arty, I was wondering if it would be possible to make a tiny folder on your server that's public. I will then try to find a way to get alice to do a proof of concept, like a simple chat room.

'Apple Macintosh' - An anagram of 'Complaints Heap'

M.A.C.I.N.T.O.S.H. - Machine Always Crashes, If Not, The Operating System Hangs.

You're *such* a mac person.

Um, that would be a pain. I could set up a completly public ftp however load times to ftps are very long.

You have a more easier access to different resources, not to mention the fact that certain aspects can be manipulated easier, so I'd say that yes it could.

Well just to say it won't be multiplayer. It won't be because it will be game to large for that function however, I thought about it and if I could negotiate with heliohost.org I may be able to acomplish getting the resources to do it. I will ask them over there right now.

I just checked with my host and they recommended getting a vps(virtual private server) for that kind of project. I must say I agree and will present a price range for a vps here. I however have no means for paying for a vps but as a community we may be able to get one server and put several games on it. I actually just figured out a way to format the servers.
