droping objects

When ever I try to drag and drop a 3D object into a world, its just a gray rectangle. and when I do drop it, ut just drops it in the default area. I've seen it in a YouTube video where it drops it where drag it. How to I get it to do that?

What version of alice are you using?
If you're using 3, I think you ought to be using 2.2. If you're using 2.2, I'm sorry, I have no idea what to say.
