Just guessing from your previous post but I suspect you are trying to load a Storytelling Alice world into regular Alice. As far as I know, that's not possible - there is no backwards compatibily.

Also, an attempt to load a Storytelling Alice world into Alice 2.0 will generate an error similar to the one you post.

I am having a similar problem with one of my worlds. Other worlds save and load just fine. I only have Storytelling Alice installed on this computer and all of my worlds have been created here, so I know it's not an issue with different versions of Alice or the OS (Vista).

Trying to glean something from the error message, looks like Alice may be trying to open a ZIP file? Error dump follows.

I suspect it is a problem with one of the characters in Storytelling Alice - remember that was only a research project, not fully tested code! For this reason, it is dangerous (IMO) to use it as your primary version of Alice and I don't recommend it. (This is not criticism - just a fact of life in a university research environment. I would hate to have had anyone else try to run the code I developed for my own thesis - I had enought trouble getting it to work for me. )

Vista's basic unzip method does not always work with Alice files and it only takes one problem file to mess up everything. If you want to try to debug the problem, you could see what objects are unique to the world that doesn't run and replace them with "known good" substitutes.)

Default another storytelling alice error - hope you can help - 04-14-2009, 11:22 AM

I can successfully load a storytelling alice world, but get the following error message. If I click "cancel", the error message closes and I am able to work in storytelling alice. I'm just wondering if this really IS a problem and, if it is, how to correct it. Thanks for any input you may have.
