Default Making propellers spin throughout method and world - 06-08-2011, 10:20 PM

Hello all,

I am trying to make a world where I have four army choppers start turning their props in order but continually turn those props while I do other things like raise them and have them state status and stuff.....I have tried the lists, do all together, do all in order, for all in orders...yada. yada yada....I can make then turn in order but not continue to turn as the next one starts and so on.

I bet I'm missing something simple

Why don't you start off with what you already have in mind, make it, post it here, and then we can provide suggestions on how to make it better.

Create event: When the world starts

Right Click > Change to> > While the world is running

Have the propellers turn in the "during" part.

Hello,

Sorry I haven't thrown anything up here yet...here's a scaled down version where I want the blades to start turning one at a time and remain turning throughout my world as I do other things. I've been puttering around with it doing various things and the best I can do is start then in turn but not stay turning after they start in turns.

As said before, go to the "when the world starts" event and right click and change it to "while the world is running". In the begin portion put the method that starts the helicopters turning in sequence. Then in the during portion call another method that turns all the helicopter blades together.

Hello,

I've tried that and it doesn't seem to recognize the second method that tells them all to turn together at all.

You seem to be misunderstanding the "For All" parameters.
See, what "For All In Order" does is make one item in a list complete its run through the commands you put into the box. In this case, you should be using "For All Together," which makes all of the items in the list complete the commands at the same time. Unfortunately the way you set the list up, using the For All parameter in any way is unnecessary. You only have to put the commands into a "Do All Together" box. The way you set the list up is also faulty for the For All parameter.
Here's an example:
For All [world.props], every [item_from_props] together
-[item_from_props] turn at speed [right] [speed= 2 revolutions per second]

And that's all.

Hello,

I see what you mean by that but what I need is to make them turn on one at a time and then stay on turning as well....should I just do a all together and add in a delay maybe to get them to stagger start?

Yeh, that is the best I can do ...the spin in turns for the first method.....stop..then all start turning together for the second method.

Well, at least on my Alice that is what they do....they do not spin in turn and immediately go to all turning..there is a pause.
