billboard board issue alice 3.4

Every time I import an image to a billboard (using small jpeg 64k), Alice world seems to go black. I've tried re-starting, re-installing Alice. I tried it in Alice 2 (same image) and it worked fine. I'm using a Mac -Os High Sierra 10.136.
