Tango217 Presents: 2 Player 3D PONG!!

1 Attachment(s)
This is version 1.0 of my pong game. Please download and tell me what you think!! :D

**MAKE SURE YOU READ THE DESCRIPTION IN GAME AND HERE FIRST PLEASE**
If you want to see some of the advanced programming that went into making this game work, take a gander through the various world methods. There's some pretty intense codes goin' on in those. Also take a look at how many variables that the game required for the different distance measurements, speeds, angles, and other values that get tracked. It's these conditions, variables, and advanced methods that cause the game to lag slightly at times unfortunately although IMO I don't think this detracts from the game's fun. I mention the bugs in the game notes.

A couple cool things about the game is that if your paddle is moving downward and if the ball is moving downward as well and they make contact, then the ball will increase speed and steepen its bounce angle. And the other way around too if the paddle and the ball are moving in the opposite direction. This makes the game much more realistic.

I hope everyone enjoys my game! And if you come across any bugs that aren't already mentioned or want to know how I made certain things work please let me know. Thanks!!

why thank you sir. :D spent alot of time on this one. tho the game seems simple, the coding is really complicated.

tango217 02-27-2010 01:27 AM

haha true. i ended up playing with myself every time to test it. got kinda tedious :(

maybe this could be one of those online games being made

What do you mean online games being made??

zonedabone 02-27-2010 09:32 AM

Those with mouths bigger than their brains are theorizing that we can make complex online games, when all of the modules for online interaction are missing! Sheesh! The only way to make it work is if there was an Alice patch.

They should come up with a patch, first to make the capacity of data or complexity in coding greater without the lag that is present now, and second for online interaction. Also is there a way i can convert an a2w to a java file? Or run an a2w on Alice 3.0 beta?

zonedabone 02-27-2010 01:38 PM

Actually, I'm working on a patch. Just add it on your world, and it'll save all the necessary files to your Alice installation! I'm also hoping to have it read files from the internet, so I can add updates to it without people having to update worlds!

Will that help to decrease lag during world running?
I LOVE IT but it sometimes lag
O, I didnt notice I run 4 gigs of ram and use a program called prio that makes alice high priority for memory.

tango217 03-25-2010 03:33 PM

ya it tends to lag a bit, but its still fun :)

King Gamer(gorit) 03-25-2010 03:59 PM
ya it tends to lag a bit, but its still fun :)
Yeah, do you mean the program or the padle?

tango217 04-15-2010 03:26 PM
Yeah, do you mean the program or the padle?
Well the program I guess. This is because the ball is told "bounce" off the paddle or the wall when it hits the wall/the distance between the ball and the wall = 0. But for some reason alice sends this method late or doesnt track the distances correctly which causes a fraction of a second delay between the ball hitting and then "bouncing". This causes the ball to "sponge" into the wall or paddle a bit. Techniquely the program should be running perfectly with the given methods and conditions, but the alice engine is a tad slow. Tear drop. But like I said, the game is still fun.

tango217 06-07-2010 01:40 AM

DensetsuNoKaboom 06-07-2010 07:10 PM

My lil bro and I played against each other, we agree it's cool!

tango217 06-07-2010 09:57 PM

Thanks Bro

jediaction 06-08-2010 08:15 AM

Your welcome good sir'

King Gamer(gorit) 06-10-2010 06:53 PM

Well, as far as pong goes who is a fan these days with cod mw2 and crossfire(a free fps) games everywhere. Actually I have been so adicted to gaming latley i forgot about alice.

DensetsuNoKaboom 06-11-2010 12:25 PM

I'm a fan cause no matter what coolness Sony, Microsoft, Valve, Nintendo, and all those others come up with, Pong is still awesome.

King Gamer(gorit) 06-11-2010 08:18 PM

True, who can beat one ball being hit by two padles.

that was the best game. i loved it. u should make checkers or chess next

zonedabone 12-03-2010 09:46 PM

Shaydon, I wasn't talking about you with the patch thing. It's just in general some people are not thinking into the logistics enough.

pretty cool, i like the music and colors just make sure to give me credit next time in the description :P
Hey man hope you like what i did with your game :) i just did some minor things
by the looks of your guys' names in my methods it seems you claimed credit for them and the game itself. most likely for a class based around alice where you had to make a final project and state who made which methods. i wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't explain a single method in that file. no big deal though. i guess you could call me flattered. but seriously, get original next time
