Alice and the web

It occurred to me that Alice supports conventional programming, concurrency, graphics, and sound. Another thing that comes to mind that is part of modern programming is the ability to interact with the web. I'm not sure what this would mean in the Alice context though. Clearly, programs in languages such as Java and c++ can open sockets, send email messages, format and transmit web pages, and can possibly be used in making applets. What should Alice be able to do?
