downloading Alice

I'm new to Alice and wondering which version to download?

The best would be the most recent version of Alice 2.2, but some teachers require other versions because different textbooks teach for different versions. If you're taking a class, you should probably check with your teacher, but otherwise the latest 2.2 is probably your best bet, though checking out the beta version of 3 might not be a bad idea.

What is the difference between Alice 2.2 and Alice 3 beta?

To be honest, I've never used Alice 3. However, from what I do know, it's got some nice new features, but it's still very buggy. Also, Alice 3 worlds are not compatible with Alice 2.2 worlds, so you won't be able to switch over when Alice 3 comes out in full. However, that might not be for some time now, and for now most people on the forums and in schools use 2.2.

folders for Alice 2.2

When I downloaded Alice 2.2, I received Alice 2.2 and Alice 2.2b folders. They appear to be exactly the same. Is there a difference? If not, why do we have both? Thanks!

worlds disappear

Sometimes while I working on a lab, the World (not the objects) will completely disappear and the only way I can get it back is to back up with ctrl-Z. Any suggestions for this?

Also, what is the difference between a .a2c file and the world files, .a2w. On the disc with the main textbook, there are .a2c file types, but I cannot open them in Alice.

Thank you!

Alice is glitchy sometimes, sorry. I don't really think that there's a solution

a2w files are the world files, the ones you open with Alice.

a2c files are object files, which you import into a preexisting world by going to file>import object
