I am in a similar dilemma. I believe this technique involves nested loop and while functions. I am still playing with my clock. I did find a clock file but it is in a2c format, which is the Alice Beta; Alice 2.2 cannot open an A2c file.

Did you get the cuckoo clock assignment in Chapter 8, Exercises 8-2 #7?
I think a review of Chapter 7 is in order to deal with the loop function. If you recall, on pages 216-217, the ferris wheel exercise deals with this. I am at least going to give it a whirl and see if I can get my clock to work.
