That's the warp glitch (at least I call it that). When you have an object turn to face a target a large number of times in a short span of time, it sometimes warps.

I get around this by putting a dummy object at the same height as the object (the fire), but above/below the camera. Then, just change "turn to face camera" to "point at dummy object"
